Industrial Equipment Repair & Troubleshooting
When equipment is down, damaged or unreliable, Steel Square can troubleshoot the problem across mechanical, controls, electrical and fabricated components, then perform the corrective work needed to return the system to useful operation.
What we see
Breakdowns, Intermittent Faults & Damage
- Equipment down now
- Damaged or unreliable equipment
- Alarms or faults on a system
- Intermittent failures with no clear cause
Emergency response
Emergency Response for Equipment Down
You do not need a history with Steel Square to call. Bring us in on a breakdown and the facility audit comes with the visit at no cost, so the trip leaves you with more than the one repair.
Call now (224) 231-9636- Call, or send the details Tell us the equipment, the location and what it is doing right now. A person answers and availability is confirmed while you are on the call.
- An agent travels to the site Steel Square works the failure on site: mechanical, controls, electrical or fabrication, whatever the restart actually needs.
- The visit includes a facility audit While the crew is in the building they review the surrounding equipment, material flow, controls and aging systems. That review is free, and it is yours whether or not any further work follows.
Send repair details
Send the location, the equipment and what it is doing right now. Alarm codes and photos help. If a line is down, call instead.

Troubleshooting & Repair Are Different Work
Troubleshooting is finding the cause. Repair is the corrective work that follows. On automated equipment they are rarely the same trade, and treating them as one step is how a machine gets fixed twice.
A stoppage can be mechanical, electrical, controls or a sensor correctly reporting a condition that is genuinely there. The fault code names the symptom. It does not name the cause, and on an integrated system the cause is often not on the machine that stopped.
Diagnose the Whole Failure
A failed system may have more than one cause. The visible damage may be mechanical while the restart requires cable work, controls, fabrication or electrical termination. Steel Square can look across those disciplines instead of stopping at the first symptom.
That matters most where the trades meet. A drive fault caused by a binding mechanical component reads as an electrical problem right up until somebody turns the shaft by hand.
The Repair That Gets Repeated
The expensive pattern is a component replaced because it was the thing that failed, when it failed because of something else.
A bearing that goes twice in a year is usually an alignment or a loading problem. A photo eye replaced every month is a mounting, a reflector or a product presentation problem. A drive that keeps tripping on overload is being asked to move more than it was sized for, or to move it through something that is stiff.
A repair that does not end with a named cause is a repair with a return date.
Temporary & Permanent Repairs
When conditions allow, a safe temporary repair may return equipment to service while a permanent component or fabricated solution is completed. The right approach depends on the equipment, the failure and the site conditions, and it is a decision to make deliberately rather than by default.
Steel Square Scope
Steel Square can carry out field repairs, mechanical and electrical corrective work, controls and sensor diagnosis, weld repair, machinery overhaul and rebuilds, fabricated replacement components, and the testing and return-to-service work that closes the job out.
ASRS Crane 9, Walgreens Windsor
As a separate project reference, Steel Square completed ASRS Crane 9 corrective work at Walgreens Windsor that included access-platform fabrication, cable-carrier and cable work, electrical termination, weld repair, testing and return to service.
Six disciplines on one crane, which is what a real cross-trade failure looks like when it is written out.
Related Services
The next likely need after a repair is usually parts, preventive maintenance, modernization or a plan for aging equipment, not another service call on the same failure.
